Arthur Sanft

Trademark Agent

Mr. Sanft has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Economics from McGill University where he graduated as class president of Arts and Science. He obtained his Bachelor of Civil Law from McGill as well, where he was chairman of the blood drive, a member of the Scarlet Key Honour Society, a Silver award winner and a contributor to the McGill Law Journal.

Mr. Sanft began his legal career at Chait, Aronovitch Solomon and Gelber (now known as De Grandpré Chait). He then spent several years in the fashion industry where he put his legal training to good use by chairing numerous industrial as well as governmental committees. He also repeatedly negotiated the union contract for the Quebec clothing industry. In his capacity as representative of the Coat and Suit industry he was for many years an active participant on the Board of the Canadian Apparel Manufacturers Association (CAMA) and AMIQ now known as VQ or Vêtements Quebec.

Some twenty years ago, Mr. Sanft returned to his roots as a practicing legal professional. He specializes in intellectual property litigation before the Federal Court of Canada, Federal Appeal Court, the Trade Mark Opposition Board and the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. He is a Trademark Agent in both Canada and the United States. In addition, he is a member of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada(IPIC).

Arthur Sanft, the founding member of Sanft Law, retired from the Quebec Bar as of March 2023 and remains a trademark agent.
